Missions

Our commitment to missions is motivated by the Great Commission, Jesus’ command to “go and make disciples of all nations,” and by the Great Commandment, to “love your neighbor as yourself.” This commitment is expressed through our leadership, personal involvement and financial support for a variety of missions’ ministries locally, nationally, and around the world.

International Partners:

BGC, Campinas Brazil – Steve & Deb Rowe

Their primary ministries focus is on leadership training through theological education and compassion ministry.  Steve participates in the ongoing process of training leadership at the local Campinas Baptist Theological Seminary.  “Though my classes I clearly emphasize the importance of our personal relationship to Christ so that we can be better leaders, and grasping the responsibility of the missionary roll of the church.”  Debra’s outreach is primarily to patients and parents she visits in the David Rowe Hospitality House (founded in 2001) and the children’s hospital.   “I share Christ, listen, give them devotional materials to read, and pray with them.”

Bridge Lives, China – Kerry & Debra Schottelkorb

Mexico Missions,  “The Way” Ministries, Mario Gonzales

First Presbyterian Church of Covina has a mission with a small river community in Mexico in coordination with The Way Ministries to provide clothing, supplies, food, clean drinking water, and help building livable structures.  Each year the ministry gathers clothing for children of all ages, and delivers gifts for Christmas.  Assistance is given to the homeless and transportation is provided for those wanting drug rehab. A bus is provided to transport people from the river to Rosarito Beach for a time of fellowship and baptism in the ocean.
